The monster floundered to its feet, blundering into my sweeping fist as I swung, dropping it back to the stones in a broadening pool of darkness. Yet once more, the Brainsucker's wounds sealed, leaving a rough, leathery plate across its neck where my fist had torn sinew like frayed rope, and crushed bone with the ease of brittle chalk. It rose, slashing wildly, dark flame coursing from its pores, rising like a drowning man's plaintive fingers from the pale sea of its flesh. I recoiled as it strode forth, its darkness chilling me, burning me as normal men would be seared by thrusting their hand into a raging kiln.

Black lightning flashed between its fingers as it leveled an imperious hand toward me, sparks of blighted shadow dancing like shards of the everlasting void in the air before it. Then, its arm was torn free, tumbling through the air like a drunken acrobat and crashing against the far wall with such force that it burst apart like an overripe gourd. Or'do had descended upon the monster with such speed not even I had time to register his presence before he sank fingers of cold iron into the beast's flesh, and tore free its arm, casting it aside as a child discards a displeasing plaything.

It turned toward him, reaching desperately with its remaining arm, tendons standing like braids of steel beneath its skin. Strain as it might, the creature could do no more than topple beneath Or'do's assault, borne to the earth by his weight as he drove crooked fingers through its cheek, and dug his free hand into its ribs. Looming over his fallen adversary, clutching its throat and chest, Or'do pulled his hands apart, slowly, painfully, a horrible sense of tendons snapping like bowstrings as with muscles unyielding as iron Or'do ripped the beast in two, its upper half tilting as it split along the left side in a ragged, yawning maw. Bands of damp, trembling scarlet tore and parted, baring its gnarled spine, which with a grating crunch exploded in two. Glowing, molten gouges gleamed along its ribs where as Or'do had braced himself, his fingers slid through its flesh as if passing through honey.

He tilted back his head, pale skin splattered with beads of shadow, weeping tears of liquid darkness, and roared, his voice thunderous and resonant, pealing through the chamber with deafening force. The Dark ensorcelled him, spoke in sonorous tones only his mad besieged mind could hear. I had to end this, and quickly, lest it consume him.
